The much predicted interest rate rise may not happen in December many commentators now believe. The Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee meet next week. It was previously thought that a pre Christmas rate rise may be on the cards in an attempt to cool inflation. Also with house prices at a record high many commentators feel a rate rise is necessary. However, rate rise speculation is often built in to fixed rates lenders offer so may not have an immediate impact. In the meantime Halifax report that house prices are up 8.2% on the year. Many banks and commentators are predicting house price growth of around 5-10% in 2022
