Landlord Database Roll Out Announced

Under The Renters Rights Act the government is committed to establishing a national landlord database.

All private landlords must register and there are heave fines for noncompliance of up to £7000 for one breach and up to £40,000 for multiple.

The government has announced that the roll out will start 15th December 2026 on a region by region basis. The West Midland go first with landlords having three months to sign up. We in the east of England are second with landlords needing to register between 15th January 2027 and 14th April 2027. The cost will be £65 per property.

This adds to the regulatory burden for landlords on the back of the first stage of The Renters Rights Act, Selective Licensing in Great Yarmouth already in place and ‘Make Tax Digital’ being phased in for rental income.
