Further Budget Update

Landlords were hit again yesterday in the budget when the Chancellor announced that income tax on let properties will no longer rise by the 2% across all brackets (announced by Rachel Reeves last year) but 4% from April 2027.

On top of other costs that are hitting landlords such as the National Landlord Database, Make Tax Digital, increased compliance due to the Renters Right Act and in some areas, selective licensing this is another measure that will push some landlords to leave the market completely.
