Hickling has always been one of our more popular villages for house hunters in the Broadland area, attracted by its unspoilt nature, connection to the Norfolk Broads network and its close proximity to the coast. A village small in population but not in size, with wide open spaces offering a delightful countryside feel and offering the largest of the Norfolk Broads. Hickling Broad is believed to cover an area of over 400 acres, providing a superb boating centre for the sailing and surfing clubs as well as private and holiday boating visitors. Alongside this, many people are drawn to the village by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust base and visitor centre. Two notable buildings in the village are the 13th Century St Marys Church and the Grade 2 listed Hickling Mill, one of few Norfolk Mills which have been well persevered over the years. The Hickling Barn Community centre www.hicklingbarn.com is a wonderful village asset too, with a variety of regular events held there. There are also two pubs in the village, The long established Greyhound Inn www.greyhoundinn.com in the centre of the village and The Pleasure Boat on the banks of the Broad. The village offers a lovely variety of properties from thatched cottages, and substantial period homes to modern bungalows which attract buyers looking to downsize and retire to the area. We, at Aldreds are lucky to be based close by and regularly sell many properties in the village with lots of successful sales achieved over recent months. If you are looking to sell or buy a home in the village, please do get in touch with our Broadland office on 01692 581089 and we will be pleased to help!
