As we creep towards November all of us in the property professions have one eye on the 31st March 2021.
This is the date that the current stamp duty holiday arrangements come to an end. In early July the government announced that until 31st March any primary residence house purchases up to £500,000 would be exempt from stamp duty. This coupled with a housing market that was already bouncing strongly back from lock down has caused a surge in house transactions. This has resulted in some areas of the house buying process taking longer with delays to such things as surveys and mortgage offers.
If you are still looking at moving before 31st March 2021 to take advantage of this holiday from stamp duty there is still time. However, you should be thinking about starting the process now!
